Two very important fights are set for the upcoming UFC Raleigh card on January 25. In fact, Frankie Edgar will make his move to 135 against surging contender Cory Sandhagen. The night will be main evented by a Heavyweight clash between Curtis Blaydes and Junior Dos Santos.
Everybody has been wanting to see Frankie Edgar fight at Bantamweight for years now. The former Lightweight champion did not seem to keen on the move until this year. He now officially makes the move to the Bantamweight division at UFC Raleigh.
He will face off against Cory Sandhagen for the occasion. The Elevation Fight Team prospect has been making waves since making his UFC debut in 2018. He is 5-0 with the promotion with notable wins over Raphael Assuncao and John Lineker. He will look to spoil Edgar’s debut at 135 and establish himself as the next big contender for the title.
In the night’s main event, Curtis Blaydes will fight Junior Dos Santos in a Heavyweight bout. Blaydes has only lost twice in 10 UFC bouts, both times to the hands of Francis Ngannou. He is on a two fight winning streak after defeating Justin Willis and Shamil Abdurakhimov.
Junior Dos Santos was scheduled to fight Alexander Volkov in the main event of last weekend’s UFC Moscow card. An injury unfortunately pushed back his next fight to the beginning of 2020. He recently saw a three fight winning streak snapped by a first round TKO loss to Francis Ngannou.
The UFC on ESPN+ 24 card will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina on January 25, 2020. In addition to these two fights, fans will get to see the UFC debuts of Nate Landwehr, Herbert Burns and Jamahal Hill.
