Josh Hill’s Bellator debut set

Top Canadian Bantamweight Josh Hill’s Bellator debut is set for next week at Bellator 239. He will be fighting against former LFA title challenger Vinicius Zani.

We leaned about Josh Hill’s signing with Bellator a few months ago and we were waiting for news on his debut. He has now been announced as part of the preliminary card for the Bellator 239 card on Friday February 21.

Last time we’ve seen Josh Hill in action, he defated Gilberto Aguilar by first round Rear-Naked Choke at Fight Night 11 in Lethbridge, Alberta. That extended his winning streak to two, as he defeated Jesse Arnett by second round KO just before that in the fight for Canadian Bantamweight supremacy! His last lost was a very close split decision to UFC vet and top level fighter Taylor Lapilus in late 2018.

Vinicius Zani will get back in the cage for the first time in almost two years at Bellator 239. He was last seen in a fight for the LFA Bantamweight championship in March 2018. He lost that fight by TKO in only 59 seconds to Ricky Simon, who moved on to the UFC right after that win. At that moment, Zani was on a four fight winning streak, last defeating 9-2 Joey Miolla by unanimous decision. The Brazilian has also fought against Thomas Almeida and Bellator double champ Patricio “Pitbull” Freire.

The Bellator 239 card will be headlined by a fight between top level prospect and standout collegial wrestle Ed Ruth against 22-0 Ukrainian Yaroslav Amosov. Myles Jury also fights Brandon Girtz in his second Bellator fight at 155. Top Heavyweight prospect Tyrell Fortune also gets a big opportunity as he faces Tim Johnson and his legendary mustache. UFC vet Carlo Pedersoli, Kevin Lee’s brother Keith, Bellator standout Gaston Bolanos and Canadian Kickboxer Gabriel Varga will also be in action on the card. We even get to see the long awaited Bellator return of J.W. Kiser aka the guy who was brought in to lose to Jack Swagger. Kiser is surprisingly on a 4 fight winning streak since his loss to Hager.

The event takes place on Friday February 21, 2020 at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The main card will be broadcasted live at 9pm on Paramount Network and DAZN. The prelims are streamed on the internet on websites like MMA Junkie and will begin at 6:15pm.
