Korean Zombie vs Brian Ortega headlines UFC South Korea

A very anticipated fight between the Korean Zombie and Brian Ortega headlines the UFC on ESPN+ 23 card. The event takes place on December 21, 2019 in Busan, South Korea.

Chan Sung Jung will get the chance to main event a card in his native country. We have last seen him defeat Renato Moicano by first round TKO in June 2019. He rebounded from his heartbreaking KO loss to Yair Rodriguez at one second of the end of the 5th round. Korean Zombie was ahead on all scorecards at the moment of the finish.

Brian Ortega will return from the longest layoff of his UFC career against Jung. Ortega received his first career loss in his last bout, a title fight against Max Holloway. He absorbed an immense amount of damage in that fight but Holloway was never able to put him away. It’s the doctor that stopped the fight after the 4th round as Ortega’s face was too messed up. Before that fight, Ortega had a record of 6-0-0-1 in the Octagon.

It will be the UFC’s second appearance in South Korea. The first event happened in 2015 and featured Benson Henderson and Jorge Masvidal in the main event.

As of now, two other bouts have been announced for the UFC on ESPN+ 23 card. They include Volkan Oezdemir vs Aleksandar Rakic and Alexandre Pantoja vs Matt Schnell. Korean Zombie vs Brian Ortega will act as the main event of the evening.
