A fight scheduled at a catchweight of 140lbs between P-O Bouffard and Samuel Giguere will take place at TKO 49. TKO announced the news on Facebook earlier today. We still don’t know where will the TKO 49 take place but it will happen on September 13.
It’s Bouffard who presented the idea of the fight in a Facebook post aimed at Giguere and TKO president Stephane Patry:
The two fighters were supposed to meet on the TKO 44 card in Quebec before Giguere got injured and was forced to pull out. Bouffard faced replacement Dorian Angerbauer in his first pro bout on the same card.
Giguere was quick to respond to Bouffard’s call out in the comments of the post. What followed can only be described as respectful trash-talk between the soon to be opponents
Local medias like MMA Talk and La voix des guerriers all shared the news and the fans semmed to be into it too. Days later, TKO made the fight official on their social media accounts.
Pierre-Olivier Bouffard will try to bounce back after his first pro loss. He was defeated by rear-naked choke in the first round by top Canadian prospect Isaac Blais in Gatineau. Before that, he had won his pro debut by decision against Dorian Angerbauer. Bouffard recently left the Nordik Fight Club to join Dany Laflamme’s Novagym in Quebec City.
Samuel Giguere will be looking for his first pro win in his third try. He lost his pro debut by Guillotine to Terry Lemaire before loosing to Maxime Bacon in his second try. He still managed to have some success in his two pro fights and he is without a doubt a fighter with a deceiving record.
This fight adds to a growing list of great matchups for the September 13 TKO 49 card. Here are the other fights booked for the event as of now:
