The UFC 247 card in Houston has its main event as Jon Jones vs Dominick Reyes will headline. The card is set to take place in Houston, Texas on February 8, 2020.
Both fighter have recently hinted at that matchup, even going back and forth on Twitter. This comes after Dominick Reyes’ first round KO win over former Middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC Boston.
Other top contenders Jan Blachowicz and Corey Anderson also fought and won recently. Jan Blachowicz failed to impress in a slow paced split decision win over Jacare Souza. Anderson was impressive in his first round KO of touted prospect Johnny Walker at UFC 244 but it seemed clear that he was not in a position to fight for a title from Dana White’s pre fight talk.
Jon Jones has been very vocal on social media recently, commenting on most of the top contenders’ performances. He seemed to have set his eyes on Reyes and he will now get the chance to fight him in Houston. Jones has been able to stay active throughout the past year but he has not put on the performances we were used too. He was pretty conservative in his two past fights against Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos. He was only able to edge Santos on the scorecards in a fight where the Brazilian was clearly injured.
Maybe Reyes will have a style that will lead Jones to a better performance. The champion notoriously fights back whenever he is pushed and that’s why he’s still undefeated.
The UFC 247 card takes place in Houston, Texas on February 8, 2020. A title fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Katlyn Chookagian is also targeted for the event.
