After negocations fell through for the UFC 244 card in New York, Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington will finally happen at UFC 245. Ariel Helwani reported the news earlier today.
There has been some back and forth between Usman and Covington for a little while now. The tension reached its peak after Covington’s win over Robbie Lawler earlier this year. They yelled at each other on the post fight in a very cringeworthy moment. From that moment, they were on a collision path.
It was believed that the UFC 244 card was the perfect moment for that fight. However, the negociations fell through and the UFC went with Diaz vs Masvidal as the main event for the UFC 244.
It now seems that the talks have finally succeeded as the bout is targeted to headline the UFC 245 card on December 14. It will join two other title fights: Max Holloway vs Alexander Volkanovski and Amanda Nunes vs Germaine de Randamie.
